Whatever format it takes, the management of individual and team performance is an essential part of the relationship between a manager or team leader and their reports. There are important benefits for everyone involved and it therefore should be prioritised - even if it feels there is no time, no need, or that circumstances or personalities do not make it easy. Unfortunately for many managers or team leaders, the issue of performance management is only directly and strategically addressed on an annual basis at performance reviews and appraisals, or when a particular performance issue is causing a real problem. Whilst understandable, this approach is not usually particularly effective - individuals are left unsure of what's expected of them, often not held to account, and their motivation and productivity on the decline.
This course will enable managers and team leaders to develop skills and strategies to optimise their team’s performance. It will give delegates a fresh perspective on how they can get the best from those they manage/supervise, through effective on-going feedback, praise, support, coaching, performance objectives and supervision meetings.
It is particularly recommended for new or aspiring managers, or those who would like to improve their confidence and ability to get the best from their team through a range of performance management tools and techniques.

Management Style Assessment
In addition to the face-to-face element of the training, we also offer an optional assessment, which can be completed as a self-assessment or as a 360 degree appraisal of your management and/or supervisory style that under-pins your effective management of staff performance. Whist it is entirely optional, the assessment is extremely useful for enhancing self-awareness and for providing a focus for on-going learning and development. The test is in interactive pdf format and can be completed at any time on your own computer. Once you have completed the test, you simply click on a "submit" button and we will automatically receive your answers for collation into a comprehensive printed report, including some useful suggestions of potential areas for improvement.
As an alternative to attending an open course with delegates from other organisations, we also offer "Effective Performance Management" as individual training on a date of your choice. Feedback from delegates who have had a one-to-one session is extremely positive, as it means that you can have the undivided attention of one of our experienced trainers, and can therefore make sure that the session is entirely focussed on your individual needs/interests.
Our standard one-to-one training includes a flexible combination of face-to-face and telephone sessions. Most popular is a half-day (4 hour) face-to-face session either at your work premises, or at a convenient local venue, plus two one-hour telephone sessions - one before and one after the training. The telephone sessions help us to ensure that the face-to-face training is tailored exactly to your needs and that you are able to put your learning into practice to make real improvements to your performance at work.
The cost is dependent upon the location and duration of the face-to-face session and we offer discounts for two or more sessions. For example, our standard one-to-one training with the face-to-face session in Central London costs £600 +VAT.
