Why Business Writing Training?

Improving business writing skills can lead to better customer relations, more successful funding bids, improved image and reputation, better communication, and fewer misunderstandings.

Individuals wishing to improve their business writing skills are often interested in finding ways to:

      • Enhance their confidence to create effective written documents that need little or no editing by a 3rd party
      • Reduce the amount of time taken to plan and write important documents
      • Order their thoughts and express themselves in writing clearly and concisely
      • Make their writing more persuasive and compelling
      • Reduce the number of gramatical and spelling mistakes
There is very little that is as exposing as written communication, as it remains for all to see and to criticise! Improving the quality, clarity and effectiveness of written communication is something that many people wish they could achieve, but rarely find the time to do so. However, the investment of a few hours and an on-going committment to personal development can bring enormous improvements that have a significant impact on the success of the individual/department/team.
assertiveness

"One of the really bad things you can do to your writing is to dress up the vocabulary, looking for long words because you’re maybe a little bit ashamed of your short ones."

Stephen King

How to spot high quality business writing

The document is...

1. Clear and concise - gets to the point quickly and directly

2. Unambiguous - with a clearly defined meaning, eliminating doubt and/or misunderstanding

3. Accurate - including evidence based facts that can be verified

4. Written in Plain English - a style that readers can understand in one reading. Using only as many words as are necessary, concentrating on the message instead of complicated language

5. Well organized - the structure is logical and enhances comprehension and ease of reading

6. Easy to read - the layout, structure and typeface enable quick and easy reading

7. Reader focussed - conveying a specific message to a specific audience, taking into account their needs, interests and expectations

And most importantly... a high quality document fulfils it's key aims and objectives
